So far on WordPress, I have learned to add videos and photos on a page and learned about the different block options. I also learned how to use Canva for creating and editing photos. On the 30 day Blog Challenge, I learned how to create newsletters and starting a group on Facebook. Thank you, Danielle Baker for joining my group.

I’ve learned so much about WordPress and all the amazing things you can do with it. I really liked the info given today, too … lots of very helpful info and suggestions. Because I got behind and had to cram a little, I just did a newsletter campaign so today I shared my blog on my personal Facebook page for the first time instead.

I fell behind last week and also had to crunch a little. I didn’t want to sent out 2 posts on the same day or the Newsletter and a blog post in order to avoid spamming my subscribers. I completely understand what you are feeling. I am really enjoying your posts!

I have noticed that it is taking me less time to get my Blog posts up. I usually Block Time 2 hours to spend on the Blog and I can now stay under that time frame (including the videos, the additional exercises and the work).

I also notice that my blog posts get more responses when I focus more on the tips and statistics about zero waste. I am really having fun with Canva.

I now have to focus more time and attention on reaching out to more people. There has been less activity in my site this week.

This is awesome Danielle! You are being really successful in implementing all of our techniques in your work flow, that is why it is paying off time wise. Can’t wait to see your blog grow more and more 🙂

<div>This week I think I did a little better job of putting my posts out there on social media, and trying to facilitate discussion around my topics of interest on my Facebook page. I also got two newsletters out. It’s getting a little less scary to put my stuff out there!</div>

<div>I find that I’m still struggling with getting my ideas out in an organized way. I feel that it takes me a lot longer to finish a post than most people. I work from an outline, but often find myself straying from it or changing my mind about how I want to present the idea half-way through. Some posts are starting to come a little easier, but I still have a lot of honing to do in this area I think. I added a few extra areas to my outline format to try and keep myself focused a little more, so hopefully this will help!</div>

Next week, I’ll be done with the blog challenge! I can’t believe it. I think what I will do next week, is slow down and write only one post per week, so that I can focus on really streamlining my process. I’d like to write a checklist of what I want to do for each post. starting from brainstorming, to the outline, to writing it, and then getting it out there it on social media, and with my newsletter. I’d also like to work a little more on fostering community in my Facebook group.

Getting rather comfortable with adding videos, photos, etc onto my blog as well as making different pages for it so it at least seems more “organized.” Still working out on how to add the posts to the relevant pages though and have been having trouble getting AdSense onto my blog, though I have managed to put up a Service Page for Reiki and Tarot Readings.

Woohoo! I have made some real progress this week and I am CAUGHT UP! Yay! I’m starting to get very specific ideas about how to monetize my blog and help some people at the same time. I’m very excited. I need to shift my focus to my theme/appearance/layout on my website. I want to organize it to be more “user friendly” and try out a bunch of the WordPress features I’ve been learning about, which are AWESOME! And I need to develop my social media presence and do more research on targeting the right groups for my services. I’m looking forward to all of it!

I think I have learned how to reach out to other blogger sites to see how they do things. Organization is something that is important to me. I think as I become more confident in choosing topics, I will become more confident in researching my content. I have started developing my posts in google docs as I have trouble editing my content. That has been a big help. I have completed my second newsletter. Social Media is giving me a little trouble, but I will keep working on the glitches and try to start posting there as well. I haven’t stuck to my calendar very well, but manybe that can be my focus next week.

My biggest accomplishment this week was finally reaching out to the rest of my contacts to introduce my blog. Most of these folks are members of my church who have supported me along my journey through cancer, infertility, writing a book, fostering and adopting. I was thrilled to feel the love and see my contact list grow! I’m looking forward now to reaching BEYOND my small circle of influence and reaching many other strangers who are looking for insight and inspiration. I am also pleased with the blogging To Do list I created for myself to remind me of all the different facets of blogging as I move forward and beyond the 30DBC. I’d be happy to share it if anyone is interested. This has been an absolute Godsend to me through COVID-19, and an answer to many years of prayer. Thank you so much for all of your support!

I’m so happy about your accomplishments, Binky! You are writing such a meaningful blog, would be a shame not to share it with your community 🙂 We also have workflows available for download on the Work section of the platform, to-do lists for every part of your blog 🙂

I realized yesterday that I have followed the wrong path with my blog. I really don’t want to offer services, I’ve been there and done that and retired from it in 2018. Half of knowing what you want is knowing what you DON’T want!

This week I am refocusing on writing my novel. What I write in the novel will direct what I post on the blog/social media/newsletter. Income will come from affiliate products and my own digital products that I can sell without having to set up my own shopping cart. Minimal admin time, maximum writing time.

I also need to sort out Adsense this week. I haven’t been able to log in to my Adsense account, it looks like I may have accidentally set up two accounts.

I’m delaying sending out my second newsletter and sharing the blog until I get the focus nailed down. Otherwise I have kept up with the lessons.

This week, we continued to add content to our blog with various blog posts. We also took the initial steps for adding ads to our blog!

Initially, we shared our blog with more people!

We struggled with finding places to guest write. However, we are waiting to hear back from a few different opportunities.

Next week, we hope to continue add content to our blog, spread the word about our blog and gain more followers, as well as continue to find ways to improve our blog.

This 30-day challenge has really held us accountable for working and improving our blog!!! We are super thankful!

This far I am writing and sharing. I am now starting to think about how to create a form for people to fill out. I want to learn from them what I can do to help. I have not created this form yet, but in the process. I want to make sure that I ask the right questions so I am thinking about what I notice on other sites, what is some common things I notice people asking about and planning to use that as a way to guide my questioning so I can determine the best approach to creating something to benefit others and possibly charge for the service. I was originally thinking mentorship or coaching, but I don’t know how I can coach someone yet so I want to think about this for the questions as well. What would you want in a coach or a mentor? How much would you charge for a mentor? If I charge so I supply materials or resources to help, any professional development I attend I typically get something out of it.

Very interesting approach, Heather! Although, I would highly recommend going to mentors and coaches first, instead of asking the general public. What they charge, how they organise their work, etc is more realistic coming from the actual professionals than the public. There are a few ones that host free masterclasses and courses so try and learn what you can about it before you dive into it 🙂

I’ve learned about SEO (and enrolled in Stupid Simple SEO).

I learned about the need to legally protect my blog for myself and my readers.

I’ve learned about Tailwjnd Tribes and Pinterest Groups. Plus the need to engage with other bloggers on fb and Twitter.

I learned about to make my pictures fit better on my blog. (Dont use the image/media block, I use the image block and then make it align left/right so the text wraps around it).

How to make the text bigger on my blog for mobile readers

How to make pop up subscribe opt ins. I also added a fb message bubble appear on my site.

I added drop down menus on my blog.

I’m in a little bit of a funk right now. My blog is intended for users of Pinterest and wouldn’t you know it, Pinterest suspended my account. More than likely it’s because I tried to upload one too many pins in the same day. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get things worked out. But right now with this situation, the fire is starting to go out if that doesn’t get resolved. My love for Pinterest is what made me want to create a blog in the first place. Crossing my fingers and hope that a live body responds to me so I have someone that will actually be able to take care of the situation instead of waiting with baited breath (if you know what I mean). I miss the days when there was a live body behind the phones.

This week I learned how to set up a Facebook group. I also learned how to find more blogs in my niche and I am continuing to find more things to do on Canva like how to change the look of the text and how to bring images to the front.

OMG it’s already week 4??? This week has been good. I learned a lesson about how to make interviews more efficient. A painful lesson, but a lesson nonetheless. I have a goal to create a “Work With Me” page on my website to engage prospective clients. I intend to reference the “Paid to Blog” and “Copywriting” course for guidance in this arena. Bryanna brought to my attention that I made post of the week! Which is super exciting for me! So thank you for providing this platform to guide new bloggers! I know for a fact my blog would not be in the place it is in now if it weren’t for this guidance.
